What’s a holiday in Madeira like?
If you are into sandy beaches with breathtaking views, your next adventure should be a holiday in Madeira, with its rugged coastline and all year round sunny and warm climate. It gets hot in the midst of Summer with temperatures ranging around the 24C and 25C mark during the day making this a relatively safer temperature range for family holidays (especially those with the younger ones) who may be used to trying to keep the kids out of the 30C-35C temperatures experienced on holidays to Turkey or Greece.
Holiday in Madeira in 2017
There is so much to do and see and your holiday in Madeira is made better by the fact that the infrastructure on the island is exceptional, with tarmac roads and an impressive tunnel network, which makes it easy to drive around yourself. There is also a good public transport service, which covers the whole island.
Funchal is Madeira’s capital city and sits on the more temperate south coast of the island – ideal for those long-weekend breaks or longer holidays where you can take the time to explore further afield.
Northeast Madeira is the best region if you want to explore the island of Madeira on foot. There are numerous interesting small towns and villages that are definitely worth a visit.
On the other hand if you’re looking for something less “active” the Southwest of Madeira is well-known for its pretty fishing villages and never ending sunsets. It would be so easy to lose a day with your feet up, eating some of the best fresh fish on the whole island, sipping on a cold glass of Poncha (a cocktail of local rum, honey and lemon). A holiday in Madeira really sounds like paradise to me!
