We know you’re probably ‘Brexited out’, but we thought we’d update you on a few things of what we know about travelling to Europe as of April 2019.
Whatever the outcome of a deal/no deal, Europe will still be open to UK visitors, and our friends in our destinations will always give you a warm welcome and look after you!
The Portuguese government has stated UK tourism to Portugal is a key element of its economy and it welcomes UK tourists. It is preparing a contingency plan so that in the event of a ‘No Deal’, citizens from the UK will be able to travel to Portugal, The Azores and Madeira as if Brexit never happened.
Airlines will still operate between the UK and our EU destinations – Ireland, Portugal, The Azores and Madeira. Even if there is no-deal, the European Commission and the UK government have said UK airlines will still be able to operate flights between the UK and the EU.
What should I do about my passport?
We always recommend you check the latest government advice regarding passport validity requirements – some countries require you to have 6 months or more before expiry.
While we can do many things to make your holiday booking as simple as possible, it is your responsibility to ensure you have valid documentation for the date of travel.
What if I need to renew my passport?
You will need to renew your passport if it is not valid for your dates of travel.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you have booked your airline ticket with us and your passport details need to be updated.
Will my European Health Insurance Card still be valid?
We always recommend taking out independent travel insurance before you travel.
In the event of a no-deal Brexit UK, registered European Health Insurance Cards will not be valid and you will need to pay for any medical assistance you need, so please be sure your travel insurance covers you for this.
Will my driving licence still be valid?
In the event of a no-deal Brexit you may need to have an International Driving Permit. Different countries have different legislation, so please check the UK government website for further information.
Your holiday is safe with us
