You are here: Home > The Lake District > Lake District Romantic Break
Escape with your special someone for the perfect romantic break.
Stay in three of the Lake District’s most romantic hideaways.
Tour the iconic lakes and mountains which inspired romantic poets.
Spend seven romantic nights immersed in the dramatic landscapes of the Lake District – the breath-taking lakes and mountains which inspired the romantic poets of the 19th Century: Shelley, Keats, Coleridge, Southey and Wordsworth.
Your week begins high in the Whinlatter forest, at the exclusive Cottage in the Wood – famous for it’s Michelin-starred restaurant which showcases the best of the National park’s regional produce.
Next, you’ll head south to the village of Grasmere, Wordsworth’s former home where he captured the essence of rural tranquillity in ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’. You’ll end your stay on the peaceful shores of Ullswater – the poet’s original inspiration for his most famous work.
As with all our holidays, this is a flexible week – call us for a chat and we can help you to create the perfect Lake District Romantic Break.
You’ll be collected from your train by our driver for your transfer to your accommodation in the Whinlatter Forest. You’ll immediately unwind in the peaceful natural beauty of the forest, with dinner at your hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant.
We’ll transfer you to the nearby historic market town of Keswick. There’s lots to see and do, and the town has an excellent selection of independent cafes, restaurants and traditional Lakeland pubs. You might like to include a cruise on Derwent Water’s famous pleasure launches in the afternoon, and in the evening we can arrange for dinner and a show at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake.
Our resident guide will take you on a private, flexible tour of the northern lakes and mountains, including visits to Bassenthwaite Lake, Honister Mine and the breath-taking Buttermere valley.
You’ll leave Whinlatter today, heading south with our driver to your new accommodation in the village of Grasmere – once home to the most-famous of the Romantic Poets William Wordsworth.
You’ll explore on foot today, walking the lakeshores of both Grasmere and Rydal Water, ending the day with a visit to Wordsworth’s former home at Dove Cottage.
You’ll leave Grasmere today, heading up and over the Kirkstone pass to your new hotel in the village of Glenridding on the shores of Ullswater.
You’ll spend today on Ullswater, cruising the lake and enjoying the dramatic mountain backdrop of the eastern fells – ending the day with a visit to the famous falls at Aira Force.
Our driver will transfer you to the station for your train home.
